I thank the
member for that question.
Just for clarification for members,
the Western Australian renewable hydrogen roadmap set out a number of
objectives for us to achieve by 2022. The member will note that we still have a
few months to go, but I am very pleased to report good progress on all fronts.
(1) The Yuri Pilbara fertiliser export project has
received all its approvals and is now under construction. A range of
other renewable hydrogen export proposals are progressing through approvals.
The most advanced include the BP Australian
renewable energy hub; the Fortescue Future Industries Uaroo renewable energy hub; the Woodside H2Perth proposal, which involves blue and green
hydrogen; the Murchison hydrogen renewables project; and the Arrowsmith green
hydrogen project.
(2) The WA
government–supported ATCO gas-blending project, which will blend
hydrogen and gas into the natural gas
distribution network for up to 2 500 customers, is due to be commissioned by
the end of the year . In addition, the state is developing a renewable
hydrogen target that will require a percentage of electricity in the south west
interconnected system to be fuelled by renewable hydrogen.
(3) The Denham
microgrid project produced its first renewable hydrogen this month and the
facility is on track to be commissioned in 2022.
(4) The
hydrogen high-speed refueller in Jandakot is on track to be completed in 2022.
In the meantime, people are using the temporary facility at Welshpool.
