REGIONAL
901. Mr I.C. BLAYNEY to the Minister for Police:
I
have a supplementary question. Given that the McGowan government will increase
Government Regional Officers' Housing rents from 1 July 2020,
what incentive is there for a police officer to move their family to regional
WA when they will be out of pocket when they arrive?

I reject the premise of that
question. I remind members that the people who increased GROH rents for
regional police officers are the very people sitting opposite. The Liberals and
the Nationals put in place those $30-a-week increases for every public servant
living in the bush, year in, year out—$30, $30, $30. That is what their
crummy budget was based on. They blew the budget. They blew the debt. That was
even with locking in, well into the future, $30 rent increases. We have put a hold
on the increases that they should own up to.
