Legal Aid WA administers the Commonwealth Community Legal Services Program at a state level on behalf of the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. Funding is provided to centres under a service agreement that operates for a term of 3 years and sets out service standards and accountability requirements.

LEGAL AID WA
GRANTS TO COMMUNITY LEGAL CENTRES
Legal Aid WA administers the Commonwealth Community Legal Services Program at a state level on behalf of the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. Funding is provided to centres under a service agreement that operates for a term of 3 years and sets out service standards and accountability requirements.

In 2002/2003 18 grants of Commonwealth funds were made to 18 CLCs in WA, 5 grants of state CLC funds were made to 4 centres and one to the Association of CLCs WA.

(c) Acquittal Provided
For each grant a preliminary acquittal has been provided in the quarterly financial report received from centres on 31 July 2003.
A final acquittal will be provided on 31 October 2003 when the audited financial statement is submitted for each centre together with a signed certificate of compliance from the Chairperson of the centre certifying that the funds have been used in accordance with the requirements of the service agreement (pursuant to Clause 10, Schedules 7 & 8 of the Community Legal Services Program service agreement executed on 1 January 2003).
