parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to question without notice 961.
(1) What is
the purpose of having the pairs of cameras fixed on the entrances and exits to
Butler train station car parks?
(2) Are there
similar pairs of cameras fixed on the entrances and exits of any other Public
Transport Authority–controlled car parks?
(3) If yes to (2), which ones?
(4) When were these pairs of cameras installed?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The
purpose of having the cameras fixed on the entrance and exit to the Butler
station car park is to assist in identifying the vehicle and driver, to enhance
the capability of security staff to monitor the station surrounds.
(2) Yes; at 13 other station car parks.
(3) At
Midland, Meltham, Maylands, Bassendean, Warwick, Rockingham, Murdoch, Cockburn Central,
Currambine, Maddington, Beckenham, Kwinana training centre and the Public
Transport Centre.
(4) The car
park identification cameras at Butler station were installed in early 2014, and
were commissioned for the opening of the station in September 2014.
