Government Regional Officers' Housing—Construction
program
881. Hon Phil Twiss to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Housing and Works:
I refer to the Cook government's
commitment to double the Government Regional Officers' Housing (GROH) construction
program and deliver over 100 additional GROH homes across regional Western
Australia and to subsequent site announcements.
(1) Will the minister provide a region-by-region
breakdown detailing location, number of homes, delivery model, timeframe and
expected completion/handover?
(2) If a full regional breakdown cannot be
provided today, when will it be announced? Will the government publish a
quarterly GROH pipeline with those details until all the over 100 homes are
delivered?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on
behalf of the Minister for Housing and Works.
(1)–(2) The allocation and distribution of
GROH dwellings across WA is always guided by the workforce planning needs of
individual agencies and their priorities. Over an average 12-month period, up
to one-third of all GROH portfolio tenancies may turn over due to normal
rotation of staff in regional locations or changed requirements at a location.
The uplift of $103.8 million for the GROH program, as committed to in the 2025
state election, more than doubles the size of the existing GROH construction
program, adding a further 100 new builds to be delivered in regional Western
Australia.
