METRONET —
ARMADALE RAIL LINE — BUS REPLACEMENT SERVICES
1087. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the bus replacement
services required upon the closure of the Armadale line.
How will the needs of people who
use wheelchairs and mobility scooters be accommodated?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
Transperth
is aware of the important role that public transport plays in providing
mobility for people with disabilities , and
this has been a serious consideration when planning train replacement services.
The Transperth bus fleet is fully accessible, providing ramps and
wheelchair-accessible spaces. Transperth has ensured that all bus stops used by the Armadale line rail replacement bus
services are accessible. Further, Transperth will operate its special
assistance helpline 1800 800 022 for
replacement services. Transperth will continue working with current passengers
who use mobility devices to explore what options will best suit their
circumstances during the line closure.
