984. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Water:
I refer to the proposed relocation of the Mirrabooka water
treatment plant to enable the City of Swan to construct an aged-care facility.
(1) What is the
cost to relocate this water treatment plant?
(2) Is this
higher than the original cost of $1.3 million given to the City of Swan
earlier; and, if so, why?

There is no proposal being considered by the Water
Corporation to relocate the chlorination process facilities for the Mirrabooka
water treatment plant. However, I can give responses to reflect inquiries into
the potential to relocate these facilities —
(1) The
estimated cost of relocating the chlorination process facilities for the
Mirrabooka water treatment plant has been determined by the Water Corporation
to be $3.82 million.
(2) The most
recent cost estimate to relocate the chlorination process facilities is higher
than the initial estimate provided in 2010. This is the result of a more
comprehensive estimate being prepared. The initial estimate did not include all
project costs, such as allowance for site conditions, indirect costs and income
tax.
(3) The city has not been given any deadline to allocate
funding.
