(1) As $25 million of this year’s state health budget is devoted directly to the incidence of stroke among Western Australia’s ageing community, will the minister explain why the Government has failed to implement the recommendations of the stroke strategy plan submitted to the Department of Health in May this year? (2) When, how and where will this strategy be implemented? (3) If this strategy will not be implemented, why not? Mr R.C. KUCERA

(1)-(3) I think I answered this question the other day. The priority of the overall stroke strategy has been looked at by the Government and the department. It will be implemented as a matter of priority in accordance with all the other urgent priorities in this State. In terms of individual hospitals, I suggest that the member for Alfred Cove look at her own situation and question whether she has a conflict of interest, because I understand that she has associations through a family member with the stroke issues at Fremantle Hospital. Dr J.M. Woollard: I take my family members to that hospital. Is that a conflict of interest? Mr R.C. KUCERA: I simply suggest to the member for Alfred Cove that she examine that; that is all.
