(1) The total expenditure on prescribed burning for each of the last ten years is listed below. Expenditure in the years prior to 2002/03 has been CPI adjusted.

(2) The total area prescribed burnt for each year in the last ten years is listed below.

(3) The precise area data (hectares) for aerial burning and manual burning would be very time consuming to extract. Of the total area of prescribed burning carried out by CALM each year, between 60 and 80 percent of the area was ignited by aerial incendiaries in the period of the last ten years. The Department’s Annual Report provides a breakdown of aerial and manual burning by number of burns.
