Given the Government’s recent announcement to commit $316 million to construct more than 1000 new dwellings to reduce the social housing waiting list and Commonwealth funding support to procure an additional 2600 new public houses over the next four years, -
(1) In the late 1980’s did the State Housing Commission acquire a number of broad acre parcels of land in the Swan Valley for social housing?
(2) Have any of these parcels of land been sold by the State Housing Commissioner (later the Department of Housing) in an undeveloped state?
(3) If these had been acquired for future social housing why have these undeveloped parcels of land been sold?

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Sales have occurred for various reasons. One land parcel was sold to another Government Department in exchange for land more suited to the immediate provision of social housing. Other dispersed parcels were sold because they offerd limited development potential.
