(1) Can the minister table all baseline data from all seagrass monitoring sites associated with the Geraldton port expansion for the past year, including the data collected by the Geraldton Port Authority in Drummond Cove to the north of Champion Bay since April 2003? (2) Can the minister table the results of the qualitative video surveys and the quantitative surveys done along the transects that have been carried out twice a year and annually respectively? (3) Can the minister table any reports or research findings resulting from the research program that Environment Australia is conducting to determine the short and long-term effects of the dredge plume on seagrasses in Champion Bay? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes. I will table the baseline seagrass monitoring data. The data includes monitoring carried out in Champion Bay and Drummonds Cove. (2) Qualitative video surveys for 2003 are available and can be provided directly to Hon Dee Margetts by mid December. The photographic surveys for 2004 have been provided with the seagrass monitoring data. Quantitative surveys form a part of the collaborative research program that is being conducted jointly by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, the Geraldton Port Authority and researchers from Edith Cowan University. The results of those surveys have not been reported to the Department of Environment. (3) No. Initial finding of the research currently being conducted by a consortium comprising CSIRO, the Geraldton Port Authority and researchers from Edith Cowan University have not been reported. [See paper No 2979.]
