(1) During the 12 month period from 28 November 2006 to 28 November 2007,
83 639 plates were returned in accordance with regulation 22 of the Road Traffic Act.
(2) - (3) Over the same period 29 662 plate infringement notices were issued and there were an estimated 40 444 vehicles for which the registration has expired but whose number plates have not yet been returned to the Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) and for which infringement notices may be issued.
