Health—Radiation therapy services331.Mr Adam Hortto the
Minister for Health:I refer to the
minister's comments in April that she is exploring funding for local radiation
services for cancer patients in the East Metropolitan Region. Given that there
was nothing in the state budget and she has since blamed the federal
government, when she goes to Canberra with the Premier, will she demand that it
immediately fund these desperately needed services?

about taking up their issues with the federal government.Of course, they are
so at odds with their own party—here versus federal. There is almost an

question. We have had an opportunity to discuss this in this place on previous
occasions. I understand the concerns that are being raised, particularly for
those people who live in our eastern suburbs, and it has also been raised in
relation to those in our northern suburbs. As I have said before. there is a
critical piece for the federal government to play in the resolution of this
matter. I have previously raised it with the federal minister and I can and will
do that again if there is an opportunity on our upcoming trip. Of course, that
trip is important for our strategy in terms of ensuring that we get the federal
government to do more in relation to aged-care home packages, which is critical
in ensuring that Western Australians get access to the healthcare services they
need.
