(1) Has the Minister for Justice terminated the appointment of Mr Kevin Bourne-McRae as an Official Visitor to Nyandi Prison?
(2) Did the Ministry for Justice advise the Minister to do so or did he arrive at his decision without any advice from the Ministry?
(3) Is the Minister aware that Mr Bourne-McRae performed excellent service as an Official Visitor and that the Ministry had been instructed to prepare a training course for Official Visitors in conjunction with Mr Bourne-McRae so as to ensure that all Official Visitors were equally effective?
(4) Is the Minister conscious of the fact that Official Visitors are appointed to protect the interests of prisoners and to report directly to the Minister and that the proper and diligent performance of their duties may not be greatly appreciated by the Ministry?
(5) Did he take any measures to determine whether the women prisoners, Nyandi Staff and the Acting Superintendent were satisfied with Mr Bourne-McRae’s assistance?
(6) Has the Minister read any reports by Mr Bourne-McRae on his visitations?
(7) In view of the stated reason for replacing Mr Bourne-McRae, ie. that Nyandi as a women’s prison required a woman to be visitor, can you advise the gender of the visitors at each of Western Australia’s prisons and the gender of the inmates at each such prison?
(8) Does the Minister have a suitable replacement for Mr Bourne-McRae who he is certain will perform the role with equal diligence and effectiveness?
