I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
The Australian Securities and
Investments Commission has indicated that it is conducting inquiries in
relation to trading in the securities of NRW Holdings Ltd and has sought
voluntary assistance from the minister.
(1) ASIC
contacted the minister's chief of staff on 25 February. ASIC then
formally wrote to the minister on 26 February 2016. I table a copy of the
correspondence.
(2) The minister's
chief of staff notified the Premier's chief of staff informally on 25 February
subsequent to receiving the enquiry from ASIC. It should be noted that ASIC
indicated that its request for voluntary assistance ''should not be
construed as an indication by ASIC that a contravention of the law has
occurred, nor should it be considered a reflection upon any person or entity''.
(3) I refer the member to
Legislative Assembly question without notice 210.
