The Minister for Consumer and Employment Protection has provided the following information:
According to the Commonwealth Department of Employment and Workplace Relations - Small Area Labour Markets - Australia publication, the unemployment rate for the City of Geraldton in June 2006 was 6.0 per cent. By March 2007 this had fallen to 5.6 per cent.
A breakdown of the unemployment rate for the City of Geraldton between June 2001 and March 2007 is provided.

There is no specific unemployment rate for the Mid West region as a whole.

The operating budget increases received by the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) have been applied as follows:
-Increased provision of services due to growth in demand.
-Increased funding negotiated with the Commonwealth Government for provision of services in areas such as aged care, allied health, respite care, and the provision of high cost drugs.
-Increased mental health services through the implementation of the Department of Health's Mental Health Strategy.
-Initiatives to improve the safety and quality of patient care.
-Increased allied health and therapy services.
-Funding for Aboriginal health initiatives.
-Increased assistance under the Patients Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS).
-Assistance for the development of new aged care facilities in Collie, Broome, Derby, and Fitzroy Crossing.
-Transfer of administrative responsibilities from the Department of Health, including telehealth, facilities and assets, population health, and contract management services.
-Funding for usual cost escalation in rates of salaries and wages, and other goods and services.
