QuestionView source ↗
(1) What public reports or other information exists to suggest that those sections of Warrup, Corbal, Mersea, Dudijup and Kingston blocks not subject to reservation ‘are likely to possess significant ecological values’ as stated in EPA Bulletin 1113?
(2) In summary, what are these significant ecological values within the above-mentioned blocks?
(3) Was the information gathered as part of the Kingston Project available to Ecoscape at the time that this consultancy undertook the study of high conservation value areas of forest outside existing or proposed reserves?
(4) If yes, was the Kingston Project information considered by Ecoscape and, if not, why not?
(5) If the Kingston Project information was considered by Ecoscape, for what reasons did their report fail to note the significant ecological values of the above-mentioned forest blocks and hence fail to recommend further reservation covering part or all of the blocks?

Ministerial Condition 11: Panel Report Part 1. Report to the Department of Conservation and Land Management. I take leave to table a list of publications and reports associated with the Kingston Project. (2) This information indicates the Greater Kingston area possesses a range of conservation values, particularly values related to fauna, and the Environmental Protection Authority has advised in Bulletin 1113 that this area should be subject to further research and review to examine its conservation values. (3) Many of the reports and publications associated with the Kingston Project on the tabled list were available at the time Ecoscape undertook their review. (4) The report by Ecoscape documents occurrences of Declared Rare Flora and Priority Flora, and Declared Rare Fauna and Priority Fauna in Warrup, Corbal, Mersea, Dudijup and Kingston blocks as well as a range of other values that allow the conservation values to be considered in the context of the regional occurrence of these values. (5) The Ecoscape Report noted ecological values associated with these forest blocks, but did not recommend further reservation for any of the review areas as this was not required by their terms of reference.
