secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Has the
minister or any staff in his office met with Uber or its representatives since
1 January 2015?
(2) If yes —
(a) on what date did the meetings
occur;
(b) who attended the meetings; and
(c) what was the purpose of the
meetings?

I thank the honourable member for some
notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) (a) The
meetings occurred on 19 January 2015, 8 July 2015, 5 November 2015, 29 January
2016, 22 March 2016 and 29 April 2016.
(b) Samuel
Calabrese, Eacham Curry, Simon Rossi, Mike Brown, Shana Sue Pei Yeo, the Minister
for Transport, Mike Buba, Darren Mudge, Richard Newton, Jessika Leofstedt, Tom White
and Nathan Riches attended.
(c) The purposes
of the meetings were: update on issues, introduction, tour of Uber Subiaco
driver support centre and discuss the on-demand transport reform process.
For the information of the member,
the minister and his office regularly meet with all sectors of the on-demand
transport industry. For the period from 1 January 2015 to 17 May 2016, the
minister and/or his office met with many other operators, including Swan Taxis,
Shofer, Complete Cab Care, the WA Country Taxi Operators Association and the
Taxi Council of Western Australia.
