The Department of the Attorney General does not have information related to the number of incidences of domestic violence reported to the Police and charges issued. Only the Western Australia Police are able to provide this information, and the Member is encouraged to direct this question to the Minister for Police.
Police indicate on the electronic record transferred to a court whether the offence was committed under circumstances of domestic violence. The following are the number of people convicted where at least one offence in the conviction was so indicated.
The indicator has only been consistently available from late-2007. Hence, there are no statistics available prior to 2008.
(a) January to June 2006 - Not Applicable
(b) July to December 2006 - Not Applicable
(c) January to June 2007 - Not Applicable
(d) July to December 2007 - Not Applicable
(e) January to June 2008 - 1072
(f) July to December 2008 - 1290
(g) January to June 2009 - 1339
(h) July to December 2009 - 1377
(i) January to June 2010 - 1381
(j) July to December 2010 - 1341
(k) January to June 2011 - 1361
(l) July to December 2011 - 1446
