Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia—Appointment
1111. Hon Phil Twiss to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for State Development:
I refer to the
appointment of an acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia
and last year's appointment of Mr Michael Sharp as the Investment and Trade
Commissioner for North East Asia.
(1) Why is Mr Sharp, after only 13 months in the
role, no longer in that position; and
(a) if he resigned, what was the reason;
(b) if he was terminated, what was the reason;
(c) did Mr Sharp receive a payout; and
(d) if yes to (c), what was the amount?
(2) Did Mr Sharp speak fluent Japanese?
(3) Has the government commenced recruitment to fill
the position substantively?

Commissioner for North East Asia on 31 October 2025 and will return to his home
agency.
