NICKOL BAY
HOSPITAL
1303. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the government's decision to relocate the
Nickol Bay Hospital to the site of the Karratha health campus in the Karratha
town site.
(1) Does the
government intend to comply with the recommendations of M P Rogers &
Associates PL study that suggests raising the hospital site to 10.3 metres
reduced level in order to position the site to above the one-in-500-year storm
surge event?
(2) If not, what will be the
specification of the height of the site?
(3) What is the
estimated cost of earthworks at the new site to raise the site to the
recommended or desired level or height?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes. Critical
infrastructure on the Karratha health campus will have a reduced level of 10.3 metres
Australian height datum.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) The estimated
cost of earthworks for infill earthworks at the new Karratha health campus is
$7.7 million; however, this is an estimate, as the extent of the total area
that needs to be raised to 10.3 metres will not be confirmed until July 2015.
