EXPORT — FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POLICY
557. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Does the Premier concede
that his support for the live export of sheep has always been insincere and
that he has just outlined what he really believes—that he is glad to
see the end of the industry?
Ms J.J. Shaw interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Swan Hills, you have
interjected at least a dozen times during this question. Please do not

When it comes to sincerity and the live sheep debate, we need
look no further than the Liberal Party. Who brought a private member's bill into the federal Parliament historically
as part of her push to eliminate the live sheep export industry? It was
none other than Sussan Ley, MP, the now Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party. It
was the Liberal Party that brought this debate on nationally, it was the
Liberal Party that brought national attention to this debate, and it was the Liberal Party that pulled the legislative trigger
to make this happen. Now we have Sussan Ley feigning some sort of half-hearted opposition to the legislation, but we
really know that deep in their heart of hearts , they fully support this
legislation. If it comes to questions of sincerity, the member opposite need
only look to the federal Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party to see the
insincerity dripping from her lips as the Liberal Party pays some sort of
lip-service to this so-called opposition.
