(3) Will the new high school planned for Eaton cater for years 11 and 12 students, if that is the wish of the parents? (4) If not, why not? Hon BARRY HOUSE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) Yes. I table a copy of the Bunbury local area education planning consultation report. (3)-(4) Recently the minister announced a new years 8-10 secondary school for Eaton to open in 2003 to relieve accommodation pressures at Australind High School. It is envisaged that the students will continue their post-compulsory education at Australind High School. The consultation report indicated that a years 8-10 school is the preferred option from the draft plan. This option includes a reference to the school becoming a years 8-12 school at a later date. If warranted by student numbers and supported by the community, provision of years 11 and 12 at Eaton High School will be considered at a future date. [See paper No 517.]
