I refer to the convention centre selection process. (1) Did the successful tenderer’s bid include the owners of Perth Glory, a condition of their involvement being that Perth Glory would have exclusive access to the stadium? (2) Does this arrangement still stand? (3) If not, how will the stadium be funded? (4) Has an annual subsidy to the operators of the soccer stadium been budgeted for; if so, what will that subsidy be? Hon N.F. MOORE

I thank the member for the question. (1)-(2)I do not know what Perth Glory has to do with any of this. It is a soccer team and is owned by another company, the name of which I am unaware. To my knowledge, that company has made an arrangement with the Multiplex consortium to take equity in the stadium. The relationship between that company and Multiplex is for that company and Multiplex to determine. However, it has been made very clear to the Multiplex consortium that under no circumstances will Perth Glory or any other soccer club have exclusivity in respect of the stadium, and Multiplex has advised us that it is well aware of that. If the contribution that is being made to Multiplex by the company that owns Perth Glory is conditional upon some exclusivity, Multiplex will either need to find somebody else to be an equity partner or find the additional money itself. I make it absolutely clear that it is a requirement that there be no exclusivity in the use of the soccer stadium. (3) The stadium will be funded as it is proposed to be funded by Multiplex. Where it arranges its equity finance is its business so long as it provides the required number of dollars. That is what we understand will happen. (4) No. It will be owned and operated by the Multiplex consortium.
