a. i. 16 students from metropolitan schools were excluded.
a. ii. Four students from South West schools were excluded.
b. Eight students who were excluded in 2014 were enrolled at a different public school subsequent to their exclusion.
c. 13 school weeks and one day.
d. Yes, Department of Education policy requires that a case manager is nominated by the Regional Executive Director to ensure that a student who has been excluded receives a new educational placement as soon as possible. The case manager is required to report to the Director General on the student's placement ten school days after an exclusion.
At the system level, the Director General requested at the end of 2014 that, commencing 2015, updated information on the current placement of all students who have been excluded since 1 February 2014 be reported at the end of Term 2 and at the end of the school year.
e. No. 17 of the 22 students were enrolled in public schools as of 3 July 2015.
f. As of 3 July 2015:
· four students were being provided with case management from the appropriate Education Regional Office to find a new option; and
· one student was participating in an approved alternative option. An approved alternative includes options such as apprenticeships, traineeships, employment, community-based programs, approved training programs or home schooling.
