Mr. Cook asks about federal funding for elective surgeries in WA since 2008 and any funding shortfalls due to unmet targets. The response indicates funding is combined and not disaggregated, and WA didn't miss funding except for $2M in 2011 due to data issues.

(1) State and Federal funding are combined to manage elective surgery. The Department of Health does not disaggregate this funding when allocating budgets to Area Health Services. The funding source for individual elective surgery procedures is not distinguished.
(2) Western Australia has not missed out on any funding as a consequence of not meeting elective surgery targets. In 2011, the State did not receive $2 million due to the Commonwealth not accepting Western Australia's revised data for assessment.
