I refer the Premier to his answer to question without notice No 449 of Tuesday, 27 November, and ask - (1) How was the matter of the appointment of acting personnel in the Department of Education referred to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet? (2) Is it common practice for the director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet to involve himself in the filling of acting positions in government departments; if so, why? (3) Did the director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet instruct the acting director general of the Department of Education not to proceed with the appointment of new acting personnel in the Department of Education?
