Clause 5 of the Regional Investment Fund Bill 2001 effectively establishes the responsible Minister as a body corporate titled the 'Regional Assistance Authority'.
Other examples of legislation that similarly establish a Minister as a body corporate with perpetual succession are:
- Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972 (clause 8)
- Industry and Technology Development Act 1998 (clause 5)
- Fish Resources Management Act 1994 (clause 9)
- Public Works Act 1902 (clause 9B)
- Land Administration Act 1997 (clause 7)
- Argentine Ant Act 1968 (clause 5)
- School Education Act 1999 (clause 214)
- Marine and Harbours Act 1981 (clause 8)
- Community Services Act 1972 (clause 6)
- Health Act 1911 (clause 8)
- Water Supply Sewerage and Drainage Act 1912 (clause 2)
A more extensive search of legislation may result in other examples being identified.
