I refer to the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Mental Health's 9 April 2019 statement on suicide
prevention in the Kimberley.
(1) When does
the government intend to publish its responses to the coroner's report
and ''Learnings From the Message Stick: The Report of the Inquiry into
Aboriginal Youth Suicide in Remote Areas''?
(2) Which government agencies are contributing to these
responses?
(3) Is the government consulting with Aboriginal people to
help inform its response?
(4) If yes to (3), who is the
government consulting with?
(5) If no to (3), why not?
(6) Will a commitment to funding
measures form part of the response?

settled on a specific release date; however, work is being progressed.
(2) Agencies that
have contributed to the response include the Department of Communities; Mental
Health Commission; Department of Health; Western
Australia Police Force; Department of Education; Department of Training
and Workforce Development; Commissioner for Children and Young People;
Department of Treasury; Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural
Industries; Department of Justice; Department of the Premier and Cabinet;
Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage; Mental Health Advocacy Service;
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development; Public Sector
Commission; and Department of Transport.
(3) Yes.
(4) The
government is consulting with Aboriginal people, including key Aboriginal
community controlled organisations and respected Aboriginal subject matter
experts, on developing a response to the recent recommendations on Aboriginal
youth suicide from the coroner's report and the ''Learnings from
the Message Stick'' report.
(5) Not
applicable.
(6) The
government is yet to finalise its response to the recommendations.
