I refer to a contract between Fire and Emergency Services Authority and St John Ambulance which enables both career fire fighters and volunteers to receive first aid training from St John Ambulance personnel, and ask:
(a) has that contract expired;
(b) is there an intention to renew the contract, and if not why not; and
(c) in the interim, what first aid training is currently being delivered, and by whom?

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority advises:
(a) Yes
(b) Yes. The authority is retendering for the provision of these services.
(c) First Aid training is being delivered to volunteers by St John Ambulance and other service providers under local arrangements. Career firefighters are trained in-house.
