PORT HEDLAND — HOSPITAL SITE DEVELOPMENT
740. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the
Minister for Lands:
I have a supplementary question. Can the minister confirm, as
the member for Pilbara did last week, that the government is considering
purchasing units to allow this development to happen?

AnswerView source ↗

I am not aware that the government is considering purchasing
units in the Finbar development. I have had no discussions with anyone about
that. However, as I do with all areas of regional Western Australia, I am
looking at what I can do as the Minister for Regional Development to encourage
development in regional Western Australia. Over the last five years, this
government has demonstrated its preparedness to decentralise and focus, with a
much greater focus than the last government had, on regional Western Australia.
To that end, we have a lot of runs on the board in terms of our commitment and
capacity to achieve that. The examples of Karratha and what is happening in
Port Hedland and Tom Price and a range of other areas around regional Western
Australia demonstrate our capacity to achieve that.
