PUBLIC HOSPITALS — PRIVATISATION
I have a supplementary question. The member for Vasse explained to the media that no such consideration of Busselton District Hospital is being undertaken. Is he telling the truth or is the Minister for Health telling the truth? Dr K.D. HAMES

AnswerView source ↗

We are both telling the truth; it has not been undertaken because we are not at that stage yet. As the member knows, the funding for Busselton District Hospital was put back as a result of the severe financial constraints in which this government found itself. Quite rightly, the Treasurer is trying to squeeze our arms to make us more efficient and to look after our funding, and he made the ultimate sacrifice in his own electorate by agreeing to delay the work on Busselton District Hospital. We are not at that stage yet, but we will explore all the options with all our new hospitals as we move forward.
