(3) The Department of Justice advise read only information cannot be copied so as to protect the security of prisons, protect the privacy of personal information and to limit the potential for the information to be used or distributed in ways other than intended by relevant legislation, protocols and memoranda of understanding. (4) The Department of Justice is represented on the Inter-Agency Information Sharing Group managed by the Office of E-Government, Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Group is developing guidelines to support inter-agency information sharing, including information security requirements. Amendments to The Young Offenders Act 1994 which will allow information to be shared when necessary to promote the wellbeing of a young person are due to be introduced into Parliament this year. These amendments will allow information to be shared with the following agencies: Department for Community Development where this will assist to protect the young person or another child. Adult justice services if the young person continues to offend as an adult. Other agencies, with Ministerial approval, when this will promote the young person's wellbeing or that to another child or young person.
