In relation to the insurance costs charged to host touring exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), Western Australian Museum and other arts agencies, I ask:
(a) is the Minister aware that the British Government indemnifies it’s flagship art galleries and museums for insurance costs incurred in bringing in headline overseas exhibitions;
(b) what are the insurance costs incurred for the
Princely Treasures: European Masterpieces 1600 - 1800 from the Victoria and Albert Museum
opening at AGWA this week;
(c) what advice did Treasury give the Minister’s office, department or agencies regarding who should pay the insurance costs for this exhibition;
(d) what were the insurance costs?
(e) what have been the insurance costs for each of the visiting overseas and interstate exhibitions at AGWA, Western Australian Museum and other arts agencies in the Minister’s portfolio since the election of the Barnett Government, and who paid or indemnified these costs?
