The 40km/h flashing school signs program has been one of the great success stories of the Liberal-National Government. By the end of 2011, this government is on track to have installed 71 of these signs as part of its commitment to road safety. This compares with the poor effort of just five such signs installed in almost eight years of the previous Labor Government.
(a) Approximately $40 000. This estimate is based on the assumption that Electronic School Zone signs are installed along one road adjacent to the school. In such cases, four Electronic School Zone signs are installed, that is, one on each side of the road at both approaches to the school.
(b) Approximately $2 600.
(c) The approximate cost to supply and install an individual unit is $10 000.
