question: what is the Leader of the National Party doing to ensure that lives
lost on country roads is reduced?

It is absolutely right that we see
the outcomes of that weekend—in fact, any loss of lives in regional Western
Australia—as too much. We are a part of the Liberal–National
government that commits to discussions about strategies to deal with this. I have
made comments in the media that we have to change the attitude of some country
drivers. It does not matter how many roads are built or how many rumble strips
are put in place, the way some of those lives are lost is based on a decision
that a person makes at a point in time about drinking alcohol, about not
wearing seatbelts and about driving while fatigued. We have to change the
culture of that. That will mean getting the whole community onside. These are
the sorts of discussions that we —
