Hon Steve Martin questions the Minister for Transport regarding post-completion reviews of Metronet projects, specifically querying the shift from Infrastructure Western Australia reviews to Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DOTMI) analyses. The Minister's response defends the DOTMI approach, citing the need for patronage to stabilise before accurate analysis.

Metronet—Post-completion review
862. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
answer to question on notice 560, which states:
METRONET projects will be subject to
benefits management analysis by the Department of Transport and Major
Infrastructure, five years post completion.
(1) Does this response indicate that the
recommendation in the 2022 State Infrastructure Strategy that Infrastructure
Western Australia undertake a post-completion review is no longer supported by
the government?
(2) Can the minister please provide a list of
dates, including month and year, for when the DOTMI benefits analyses are due
for each completed Metronet project?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(2) It takes time for patronage to
settle following the opening of a new public transport project; hence, a review
five years post-completion allows for an accurate analysis of whether projects
have achieved desired outcomes.
