The Department of Corrective Services (the Department) assesses all people entering the prison or youth detention system on a range of factors, including their risk from others.
The Department's Adult Custodial division accommodates a range of prisoners with varying security and/or safety concerns. Prisons ensure that there is a collaborative and coordinated approach to identifying and managing all prisoners who require additional support, intervention and/or monitoring in prison.
The Department's Youth Custodial Services provides a range of culturally appropriate services for young people including a professionally staffed medical centre, psychological counselling, education and vocation classes and access to religious practices.
