I thank the member for the question. (1)-(3) No, there is no current agreement between the Northern Territory government and the Western Australian government on illegal fishing matters. However, at a recent meeting I had with the Northern Territory government, that issue was raised, including a proposal to extend a current mutual understanding agreement on general fishery matters to deal with compliance issues, which was also discussed with the Queensland government to see if there would be the will to extend that across all three northern jurisdictions. In about three weeks we are meeting at a commonwealth level. All three jurisdictions are continually in discussions with the commonwealth on these jurisdictional issues. Although Senator Abetz on behalf of the commonwealth and Western Australia wants to take a big stick approach, the size of the stick lessens a bit as one travels east. However, I am confident that we will reach a mostly common view on compliance issues. I am pleased with the progress we are making at the moment with the commonwealth and other jurisdictions.
