I refer to the mobile dental clinics provided by the public dental health services to Western Australians in regional and remote areas, and ask:
(a) please list which regional and remote communities in Western Australia have received a mobile clinic public dental service in 2010, 2011 and 2012 to date;
(b) how many of these visits were to communities that are considered remote indigenous communities;
(c) how frequently are these regional and remote communities visited (for example, what is the average time gap between mobile clinic visits); and
(d) what is the average cost per each mobile clinic visit to remote indigenous communities?

(a - b) The "Itinerant 5" Mobile visits Indigenous communities at Beagle Bay, Bidyadanga, Lombadina and One Arm Point.
In addition, seven fixed dental clinics (Derby Dental Clinic (DC), Fitzroy Crossing DC, Halls Creek DC, Kununurra DC, Meekathara DC, Newman DC and Port Hedland DC) provide an outreach service to Indigenous communities [see tabled paper no].
(c) On average regional and remote communities are visited every 16.5 months.
(d) The estimated average cost for a 2-week visit by a dental team (consisting of a Dentist and Dental Clinic Assistant) to a remote Indigenous community is approximately $18,000. This includes salaries, allowances, accommodation and consumables.
All members of Indigenous communities are eligible to access free dental care during a visit by the dental team. It is estimated that approximately 70% of the treatment provided is to children and the remaining 30% to adults.
