The Premier's response neither confirms nor denies the claims, suggesting a reallocation of existing resources rather than new investment.

EAST KIMBERLEY PLACE MANAGERS
I refer to the government’s decision to appoint two “new” place managers to East Kimberley as recommended by the Gordon inquiry. (1) Will the Premier confirm that staff were simply transferred from existing roles in the Department of Indigenous Affairs to the place manager positions? (2) Will the Premier confirm that, in effect, no additional resources were committed to East Kimberley? Mr A.J. CARPENTER

I thank the member for the question. (1)-(2) I cannot confirm that but I cannot dispute it. The creation of these positions, as I recall it, was not necessarily to create a new person in the system, but to create a new role for a person to perform. I believe the member has just outlined that that is what happened.
