(2) In relation to (1), for each Bunbury and Busselton, what is the town of residence of each patient currently undergoing dialysis? (3) For each of the past five years, how many patients were receiving dialysis treatment in the South West region? (4) How many patients in the South West region are having home dialysis treatment, and what is the cost of this treatment to the patient? (5) What is the projected growth in demand for dialysis in the South West region for the next 10 years? (6) Will the Government commit to making more dialysis beds available in Bunbury? (7) If no to (6), why not?

The following answer is based on renal dialysis data which is captured on a monthly basis and therefore current data is only available up to 30 April 2015.
(1) As at 30 April 2015 -
(a) 35; and
(b) 10.
(2) To protect patient confidentiality information is only released where there are five or more patients from a town.
Bunbury is the only town where there are five or more patients, with a total of 18 patients receiving dialysis.
(3) The following number of patients received dialysis treatment in the South West Health Region for each of the past five financial years:

The total number of patients who have received dialysis treatment in 2014/15, listed as 75 in the table above, differs from the total of 45 provided in question (1) as question (1) refers to South West residents currently undergoing dialysis treatment in Bunbury and Busselton only.
(4) 11 patients in the South West Health Region are having home dialysis.
Home dialysis treatment is provided at no cost to the patient.

WA Country Health Services (WACHS) Renal Plan 2010-2021
projected that there would be an estimated
184 residents in the South West Health Region requiring dialysis in 2021.
WA Health is finalising the "
Epidemiology and Projections of Renal Dialysis Treatment in WA 2003 to 2012 and 2015 to 2025
" Report which utilises recent population and prevalence data and will provide a more accurate measure of future demand.
(6-7) The number of dialysis chairs in the South West Health Region currently meets demand for service.
Decisions regarding whether the number of chairs need to increase will be determined by future demand and activity levels.
