(1) The media training is an integral part of a Media Strategy which has been developed in response to the work of the Anti-Racism Strategy Steering Committee, chaired by the former Premier, Hon Dr Geoff Gallop. At the time of reporting initiatives for 2005/6 the Media Strategy had not been fully developed and was not envisaged as being a major project. However national and international events, such as the London bombings and Cronulla Riots, reinforced the need to prioritise and expand this project on a larger scale to facilitate community engagement with the media.
