I refer to recent media reports of the suspension of two students from Wesley College for the alleged possession of marijuana, and I ask:
(a) have the two students been enrolled or applied to enrol at a government school;
(b) has the Minister or the Department of Education Services sought a report from Wesley College on the reported suspensions and subsequent permanent leaving of the school by the students and if not why not;
(c) if yes to (b), does the report reveal whether the two students were asked to leave the school permanently and if yes, what are the details;
(d) in each of the years 2008, 2009, 2010 and year to date 2011, how many government school students have been suspended for:
(i) alleged possession of a prohibited drug; and
(ii) legally proven possession of a prohibited drug; and
(e) in each of the years 2008, 2009, 2010 and year to date 2011, how many government school students have been excluded for:
(i) alleged possession of a prohibited drug; and
(ii) legally proven possession of a prohibited drug?

When a student is allegedly in possession of a prohibited drug, schools refer the matter to WA Police. (e)(i)-(e)(ii) Exclusions from public schools are not routinely classified. Detailed information is recorded by the professionals involved in each case but this information is not made available because individual students would be able to be identified.
