CARNABY'S BLACK-COCKATOO
1225. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to the ABC Perth radio interview on 28 September 2024
''Carnaby cockatoos are on the brink of extinction, but you can help''.
Concerns were raised regarding the increasing number of Carnaby's
black-cockatoos presented at Perth Zoo due to emaciation or starvation,
resulting in the inability to fly.
(1) How many Carnaby's black-cockatoos have
been presented to Perth Zoo for veterinary care since May 2024?
(2) Of the admissions for (1), how many were the result of
emaciation or raven attacks?
(3) How many of the Carnaby's black-cockatoos
presented to Perth Zoo for (2) are still alive?
(4) How many
Carnaby's black-cockatoos had been presented to Perth Zoo for
emaciation in total prior to May 2024?
