COTTON
BUSH CONTROL
411. Hon DARREN WEST to the
Minister for Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the answer to question on notice 748 in which the
minister claims that community awareness about the spread of cotton bush is
being achieved through a series of public meetings.
(1) How many
public meetings have been held specifically to raise community awareness about
the rapid spread of this weed?
(2) How many
landowners attended each of these meetings?
(3) How were
the meetings advertised?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) Since 13 May 2013, seven public meetings have been held.
(2) Total attendance was approximately 320 people.
(3) Meetings
were advertised in local media, through local governments, local Landcare
groups, and through networks run by other partner groups interested in the community-coordinated
approach to managing cotton bush.
