This is my first question to the new minister so I hope she can find the answer. One year ago I asked a question about childcare centres. The minister may recall that the answer I received stated that the Gallop Government was investing in a new database that was soon to be operational and that would have a comprehensive report writing facility. The minister may recall that that was the answer given instead of the details I requested. Will the minister please provide the following information - (1) How many childcare centre building licences have been granted since 2001? (2) In which local government authorities were the licences granted? (3) How many in each local government area were for community childcare and how many were for private operators? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I commend the member on her persistence but advise her that since I have taken up the portfolio of local government and regional development, the portfolio of community development and children’s services has resided with Hon Sue Ellery.
