I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for Consumer Protection has provided the following answer - (1) A total of 49 written submissions were received in response to a Stamfords advisors and consultants report released as part of stage two of the review. During analysis of the submissions it became apparent that the range and complexity of issues involved necessitating the splitting of the review into two separate projects with one project focusing on long-term caravan park tenancies and the other on general residential tenancy matters. Priority was given to long-term caravan park tenancies. This has unfortunately significantly lengthened the process and progress of the review. This led to the development of the Residential Parks (Long-stay Tenants) Act 2006, which is expected to commence operation later this year. The general residential tenancies aspect of the review recommenced in mid-2004. Significant additional consultation was undertaken. (2)-(4) Currently, there is one FTE working on the review. It is anticipated that the report will be considered by the government in due course and once the government has endorsed the report, it will be tabled in Parliament.
