CHILDREN IN CARE
576. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the number of Western Australian children in care.
(1) How many children from metropolitan districts were in the
care of the state as at —
(a) 30 June 2010;
(b) 30 June 2011; and
(c) 30 June 2012?
(2) How many children from country districts were in the care
of the state as at —
(a) 30 June 2010;
(b) 30 June 2011; and
(c) 30 June 2012?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) (a) As at 30 June
2010 there were 1 988 children. That was the number as at 28 February 2010.
 (b) As at 30 June 2011 there were 2 109
children.
 (c) As at 30 June 2012 there were 2 311
children.
(2) (a) As at 30 June
2010 there were 1 288 children. That was the number as at 28 February 2010.
(b) As at 30 June 2011 there were 1 410
children.
(c) As at 30 June 2012 there were 1 469
children.

Minister, will you take an interjection? That February figure; was that because
that is when the database changed?
