I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) I understand that country taxi operators have sought to be brought under the Taxi Act 1994 for some time. That Act is responsible for the regulation of the taxi industry in the metropolitan area. It is disappointing that the previous Government did not deal with this matter. Nevertheless, the Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure was only recently made aware of this issue and will endeavour to resolve it as a matter of priority.
